"Every emotion wants to be expressed." – Unknown
Energy, expression and AI’s actualisation may seem like separate subjects, silently siloed away from each other, each on their own solo mission. But increasingly, energy, expression and AI’s actualisation are becoming interconnected in how we live and how we’re going to be living in the very near future. And the deepest shift will be how we move through and experience time, the portal which gives gravity and meaning to our very existence.
Time is generous. Time expands when we meet it with our full-bodied presence. But time through the lens of technology contracts and distorts it, shaping the reality of time into something quick and urgent, leaving us always slightly behind time instead of being fully within it and present with it.
Many of us are picking up on the rapid speed shift taking place right now. January has metamorphosised into June. Summer is blooming before our very eyes. Sunglasses are out, my bikini browsing game is on. Like my nearest and dearest, I’m also asking what has happened and is happening with time in 2025.
As nature has expanded and moved from Winter to Spring to Summer, our wider world – from politics to AI advancements to the yo-yoing of the global economy – has zipped through rapid changes, emerging into tectonic shifts that we won’t fully see and comprehend for a few years. We haven’t caught up as we’re still processing the news from last month. How is this changing our understanding of events, time and the magnitude of the changes ahead?
When change comes, we need time to understand and accept it. Hold space for it. Metabolise it. But if that time is lacking, how can we cherish time for the meaning and moments it holds?
When AI advancements pick up pace, its speed will warp our sense and experience of time. It will amalgamate it. It’s because of this we’re hearing more about longevity and how we can live longer. But to live longer, it will require us to expand and totally reorientate our understanding of the unique nature and pattern of time.
If our time on Earth becomes extended and metamorphosed because of our interactions with AI, what will time come to mean to us personally as well as collectively? How will history – significant moments of time where shifts and events are deemed “historical” – be impacted by this new understanding of time, and what methods will time be held by future generations?
Progression has been on my mind lately as I look back over the first decade of my professional career and accomplishments, what the next decade will bring, and where my energy and expression has ebbed and flowed. Safe to say, and as recently pointed out in my piece on Intellectual Synthesis 3.0, I won’t be wasting a second of my time living by old standards, expectations and modalities that don’t work anymore, especially not for me and where I see myself in the future.
Time has taught me that energy and expression (and I’ll throw in spontaneity too, as that’s genuinely where I’ve had the most mind-blowing professional breakthroughs) is far more important than logic and reasoning. When our energy is light, aligned and embraced, success becomes a feeling and elevation of spirit, not a surface-level buzzword, list of items and accomplishments that may not align with our own authentic code.
Our authentic code is not something we just snap into. It’s something that we gradually step into and savour once we remember what it actually is away from the conditioning and expectations. It’s a fully analogue experience, slow and silent. It roars into actualisation when confronted with things it resolutely disagrees with, metamorphosising with time, changing with the winds, culture and environment we are constantly manoeuvring and modernising.
Time has two sisters – energy and expression.
Time shapes us, tests us and teaches us through our experience of energy and expression. If we are dancing through time – embracing the rhyme, rhythm and flow of events and how we move alongside them – then we are alive to time as a teacher and co-creator of our lives. This way, we can shape time as active participants.
Rather than time being perceived as something that is lacking, if we look at time and integrate it with energy and expression, then it is always something that is abundant and overflowing.
When you have time, but lack the energy, that’s your call to decide whether what you’re doing with your energy is really enhancing and embracing your time.
Equally, if you have the energy but not the time, there’s always a way to find more time because your energy is the power that supersedes it.
Ironically, expression has a habit of ringing through time, bypassing dates and digits, forever lodged in the mind and memory of a person who chooses to hold onto it. Time seeks to contain events and moments. Expression aims to outlive them far into the future. Expression is what gives time soul.
In a world buzzing with competing rhythms — algorithms, AI agents, endless notifications — it’s easy to lose our own tempo. The real value of time is to understand, flow and dance with its rhythm and contribute and own your rhyme. This is what AI’s actualisation is nudging us to pay attention to – how we as humans embrace our natural flow and timelines, not what is projected onto us by others.
Expressing what we think and feel through our words and actions, the rhyme and rhythm of our emotions, desires and callings create the heartbeat of time.
Rather than time being a mechanical movement – one minute or hour after another – time becomes a momentous moment of change, rupture, unravelling and manifesting, all at once. The tick of the clock is no longer a burden; it becomes an orchestra of our becoming.
Next month will see Uranus enter Gemini on 7 July 2025, moving away from its seven-year stint in earthy Taurus (2018 to 2025) which has dislodged what we thought was materially secure and stable, making us transform the way we relate to our material needs, including how we make money. As a change-making progressive planet which disrupts habits and established norms, rules, perceptions and paradigms, Uranus shakes things up to dismantle habits, systems and structures to enable greater freedom and exploration.
In Gemini, the sign representing communication, information and learning, we can expect things to pick up speed with the advancement of AI and how we use it. What information will actually stick around and be appreciated and valued by our descendants. Based on recent developments, such as the increasing role of AI as “thinking” companions in start-ups, as well as the conversations around AI becoming conscious, AI is set to become more integrated in how we live, express and exchange knowledge.
Whilst not controlling the source of how we think, AI will change how we express and see ourselves. It will make us more intentional with our energy and time offline – making every moment and interaction with a fellow human being feel more vibrant and divine, a silent and free luxury that is a poignant and pertinent part of the human experience.
To me, this is where time’s real value lies; in its ability to provide the space to contemplate, reflect, breathe. As the passing of time reshapes our perception of it, this is the most vital lesson to understand as we move into an AI era that will tease and test humanity’s appreciation of itself.
The real winners of AI’s actualisation will be those who can loose themselves within time without being lost to it. That means more album listening sessions, long walks without a watch, 4-hour lunches and heavy reading sessions, in turn making us more sensitive and sensory to the pulse of life away from AI and digital living.
More than anything else, it will be those who are highly expressive and generous with their energy and presence who will amplify and make us remember just how precious and powerful our time – and the time of others – really is.
Until next time…
Joanna
I liked every spiraling, cosmic, season-hopping paragraph of this, and as a Gemini (with the attention span of a golden retriever in a butterfly conservatory and the existential curiosity of a caffeinated Sphinx), I feel deeply seen by this elegant entangling of time, expression, and energetic presence. We, the twins of the zodiac, live in the liminal, half here, half not, one foot in the moment, the other already rewriting it as metaphor. So of course we know: time is not a line; it’s a dialogue.
What you’ve intuited so sharply—m, this collapse of linear time under the weight of hyper-acceleration is an intellectual concept, and it’s also visceral. Our bodies feel it before our minds catch up. And this collapse is an invitation. An invitation to remember that the most subversive act in an era of automated urgency is deliberate expression. Speed, articulation, relevance, resonance.
AI may reshape how we produce, but it can’t metabolise the sacred hesitation of a pause before a confession, or the way a voice trembles mid-thought, or the irreverent, inconvenient beauty of a story that takes too long to tell. That’s the paradox, the more AI advances, the more our human tempo, the unscheduled, the sensual, the contradictory, becomes a form of resistance.
So yes, expression is time’s sister. But she’s also its archivist. She records the heat of presence long after the clock has moved on. And energy? Perhaps the unsung lover in this triad. Restless, untamed, burning holes through calendars and agendas alike.
As Uranus waltzes into Gemini, we’ll all be invited to live more like we do, curiously, erratically, synthetically and synesthetically. To follow rabbit holes, remix meaning, say yes before the data confirms it’s a good idea. And if AI becomes our mirror, our echo, our sparring partner, then our best answer will be to keep dancing with time not as a measure but as a medium.
I’m all for the slow lunch, the long walk, the unreadable first draft, the loud laughter in a quiet room, and the kind of presence that makes even digital time blush.
Thank you, Joanna!
